Our vision.
Our Mission: To ignite the imaginative spirit and inspire new ways of thinking so that young people can realize that their ideas have purpose and that they have the courage to act on them.
We envision learning differently. Learning is paying attention to the moment. Learning is thinking about the world. Learning is hatching a new idea. Learning is knowing that change is a constant. Learning is transforming materials into bold expressions of art.
Our young artists are members of a wider world community, poised to make their principles a reality.
Our values.
You can see by kids’ artwork that our expectations are high. With an ever-changing set of skills that children need to navigate the world, Leaps of Imagination’s artists have a clear set of priorities. We believe that learning is a process. We expect a range of outcomes within the diverse group of students we teach.
We INSPIRe:
Artistry. Art is the medium through which kids can deepen their understanding of themselves and the natural world. With a mountain of materials from printmaking inks to watercolors, our learners gain the confidence to take a creative leap.
Big Ideas. We teach within a context of big ideas. Literature is a constant springboard for shared dialog. Kids anticipate multiple perspectives and learn to think symphonically. Their big ideas form the construct for original works of art.
Connectivity. Making connections and forging relationships are central to the Leaps’ experience. Children work in cohorts, learning to negotiate and reach consensus. Working as a team, our artists are role models who share strategies for building a compassionate community across age groups.
Stewardship. Children use their eyes and ears to notice nature’s elegance and develop a profound respect for living things. Feeling empowered in their youth, they are committed caretakers of their planet.
